Faire Sa Conaissance ~ Madame Crisafio

May 15th, 2008

It’s okay to leave a comment on the blog ~ really we like comments!

Thanks, Mrs. Crisafio for your adventurous spirit, and desire to have your students learn as much as possible! Thanks for working so hard on your lessons this year, so your kids would understand more French!

Madame C

Merci, Mme Crisafio pour votre esprit d’aventure, et le désir d’avoir vos élèves en apprendre le plus possible! Merci pour le travail d’arrache-pied sur vos cours cette année, afin que vos enfants comprennent plus le français!

On Food and Music ~ Quebecoise

May 13th, 2008
Check out this Photostory made with last year’s pics! click here

The music in the Photostory is “O Canada”, which is the Canadian National anthem. For the most famous Quebec song, click here. Gen du Pays ~ Hymne de Quebec

One of the things I am looking forward to is the very French way of eating. In Quebec you can go to a boulangerie, bakery, for croissants or baguettes. Quebec also has some great cheeses made with raw milk–lait cru–, and of course “poutine”. Poutine is pommes frites, French fries with gravy and white cheese…once you see it you will never forget it! (See pic above!)
You will eat breakfast with your home stay family. Last year I ate cereal and fruit for breakfast. I guess that is typical whether in the U.S. or Canada. At lunch time we eat in the cafeteria at school. They have a chef there, so it isn’t terrible at all! At dinner time you will eat with your home stay family again. My home stay family tried to help me with my French while we ate. It was good to make conversation about the things we were eating, and how to say “dishes” etc. Very relevant conversation! If I made a mistake I was corrected, but in a very nice way so I could improve!

Road Trip Coming!: We are off to Quebec City

May 12th, 2008  Tagged , ,

Again we go north…across the United States border into Canada and then press on to Quebec City. We’ve done this before, (last year’s blog), at least some of us! Mrs. Crisafio, Sarah , Mrs. Quinn, John, Eli, and Michael  had this experience last year…and it was so wonderful we signed up again!

This is what we expect:

1. The homestay family to understand we aren’t fluent in French…they will be patient with us as we search the reservoirs of French within our brains…in order to communicate on their terms hopefully!

2. Excursions in the afternoon to experience the best Quebec has to offer….waterfalls, biking, chateaus, cafes etc.

3. Better friendships with friends we haven’t spent enough time with this year because of all our cyber duties

4. More French

5. Blossoms and in general….thaw!
