On Food and Music ~ Quebecoise
Check out this Photostory made with last year’s pics! click here
The music in the Photostory is “O Canada”, which is the Canadian National anthem. For the most famous Quebec song, click here. Gen du Pays ~ Hymne de Quebec
One of the things I am looking forward to is the very French way of eating. In Quebec you can go to a boulangerie, bakery, for croissants or baguettes. Quebec also has some great cheeses made with raw milk–lait cru–, and of course “poutine”. Poutine is pommes frites, French fries with gravy and white cheese…once you see it you will never forget it! (See pic above!)
You will eat breakfast with your home stay family. Last year I ate cereal and fruit for breakfast. I guess that is typical whether in the U.S. or Canada. At lunch time we eat in the cafeteria at school. They have a chef there, so it isn’t terrible at all! At dinner time you will eat with your home stay family again. My home stay family tried to help me with my French while we ate. It was good to make conversation about the things we were eating, and how to say “dishes” etc. Very relevant conversation! If I made a mistake I was corrected, but in a very nice way so I could improve!
